When Jyn Erso was eight years old, her mother died and her father left to become a gamemaker for the Hunger Games. Adopted by Saw Gerrera, her mother's friend, she became Jyn Gerrera and was forbidden from ever revealing her true identity to anyone. Ten years later, it's Jyn's last reaping. Saw, the forgotten victor of the 32nd Hunger Games, had rejected every reward the Empire offered him, preferring to live as a recluse at the edge of the forest in District 12, as opposed to the luxury in the Victors' Village. It's been decades since anyone in the district even recalled that Saw was once a victor himself, but he had made sure to teach Jyn all he knew of self-defense and combat training. It's the only thing she has of him left since his passing two years ago. Now, Jyn just wants to get through her last reaping and survive. But when she hears the name of the young girl she trades with sometimes, Jyn doesn't hesitate to volunteer in her place. She has nothing to lose, except her life, and every reason to believe that with Saw's training, she has a chance at winning the games. A chance that 12-year-old Kerri Andor wouldn't have. Things get a little more complicated when Kerri's brother is picked as the other tribute. Jyn is good at surviving, but Cassian, with his quiet cunning and surprising talent with a bow and arrow, could be a threat. Not to mention that Jyn knows he's the sole provider for his young sister and aging mother; a family who needs him. Who may die without him. Nobody is waiting for Jyn back home. When their mentor's plan to make them seem like star-crossed lovers triples the attention and sponsors they receive, Jyn is forced to play along with the scheme and pretend she has feelings for Cassian. Worst of all? She's not sure where pretending ends and where genuine feelings begin. The gamemakers say they can both go home if they're the last two tributes standing, but Jyn knows better than to believe the pretty promises of the Empire. Soon, she'll have to make a choice. Will she do anything to survive? Or will she let Cassian Andor go home to his family - even at the cost of her own life?

As someone who has steadily kept up on almost all Watcher shows and side projects, this backlash really does come down to how out of touch the guys have become, even before making Friday’s announcement.

Ryan and Shane (certainly the biggest draw to the channel) got their start with lower-brow, boyish humor and riffing off each other. Can’t forget the capitalism-critical and “power to the underdog” attitude that resonated with so many fans early on either. Now though, if you watch/listen to Pod Watcher, it’s hard to overlook just how unrelatable they’ve become in recent years. Which is whatever—it’s not like we only consume media in order to intimately relate to hosts/characters—but it does mean they’ve lost something integral from the charm that netted them their initial success.

To add. If you watched their latest season of Too Many Spirits, they weren’t even funny, just trashed and off-putting, lol. Frat-style drinking by a backyard pool and Ryan overhand throwing bones at a neighbor’s dog for barking.

Maybe not as bad for Shane, but the egos have really grown uncomfortably outsized. And at some point I got tired of watching videos based around lavish over-indulgence. Even if Steven’s videos cost less to produce than Ghost Files (I assume), they clearly rub viewers the wrong way on principle alone.

All in all, and not to minimize their hard work in getting out the content that they do, I think the Watcher guys should’ve been much more careful in considering this move and its rollout.

For years, I’ve maintained a Patreon subscription to a separate and unrelated funny-guy trio (for the same monthly price Watcher Streaming is now asking). However. The group I subscribe to is more than situationally-funny-sometimes, and always come across as grounded, emotionally intelligent, and likable people. Which makes me want to see them succeed and help how I can (though I would still be able to access 95% of their content even without subscribing).

So yeah, idk. Steven Lim driving a Tesla and wanting a second one or whatever is kind of just the tip of the iceberg.

I've reduced my queue for now so I can try to build it back up but, like always, I promise I'm not dead. I played the WoW remix this weekend because my partner and I discovered it's actually fun and we raided the tail end of MoP and most of WoD. Compendium and stuff will resume next week. 💖 I think I needed a weekend of brainless nonsense.

I started playing Warframe on my switch in April 2020 when I was stuck isolating in my bedroom for days and weeks at a time. Later, when I moved in with my sister, I started playing it on her PS4 for the better graphics, and got way further in the plot on the PS4 than I got on my switch...

Except that the PS4 version doesn't have gyro controller aiming. Idk why!!!! Allegedly the hardware is all there!!!!!! But switch is the only version of Warframe with gyro aiming, and without it my headshot accuracy TANKED.

I do not play Warframe as a multiplayer game. I frequently forget that it IS a multiplayer game. I use exclusively my bow and sneak around the levels headshotting all the enemies from stupidly far away and they can't find me because my bow is mechanically silent and I run the same spy missions over and over and over again because I like doing them and I like hacking consoles and finding all the different ways to sneak around. Warframe is also the ONLY game I have EVER played where I like the dang fishing minigame, but I will also go fish and mine all over the open world sections. It's great. I love it.

But it was killing me to not be able to make good headshots anymore!!! And I didn't want to replay half my progress and jump back to switch!!!!!!!!

Which is why I am extremely extremely fucking excited that they have as of the new year enabled account merging and cross platform save.

I merged my accounts and now i have all my progress and all my stuff on all the different consoles and if I want better graphics I can go play PS4 for a bit but in the meantime I am playing on switch again for the first time in years and I am headshotting all these grineer soldiers from halfway across the map!!!! let's go lets go!!!

My mini contribution to @echoes-lighthouse's Evil Slasher Orphanage! My wife Anna and I are here to help, and brought a few more kids of our own.

I really thought I was a horror fan until I sat down to draw this and came up blank. I guess I'm not a slasher guy, because a LOT more Monsters and Beasts came to mind, so it took a while to form a list. Though I did include Sam who is certainly a Creeture but.. They're human enough.
